What it is
Plugslip answers one question — how much does it cost to run this appliance? — for the UK, the US, Germany, Italy and Japan. It runs entirely in your browser: there is no account, no backend and no runtime API call.
Where the numbers come from
Every electricity price comes from an official source (Ofgem, the US EIA, Eurostat, 全国家庭電気製品公正取引協議会, TEPCO) and every appliance preset from an official database (ENERGY STAR, EPREL, 省エネ型製品情報サイト) or the manufacturer’s own specification page. Each figure carries its source link, the period it refers to and the date we verified it. Where no verified figure exists, we do not guess: you type your own.
How the maths works
Energy (kWh) × your unit price. Where an official test gives a measured energy figure (kWh per year, per season or per cycle) we use it in preference to rated watts × hours, and the result says which basis is in use. Standing charges are never added. Results are rounded only for display.
Updates
Prices were last verified on 9 October 2026. Ofgem announces the next GB cap on 25 November 2026 for January–March 2027; we update after each official release.
Independence
Plugslip is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or paid by any utility, regulator, retailer or appliance manufacturer. Brand and model names are used only to identify the products whose published figures we use.
